Formosa Group launches new music editorial division

West Hollywood — Formosa Group, a post production sound editorial company serving film and interactive clients, has formed Formosa Music Group to provide music editorial services for feature films and television.

Leigh Kotkin is director of music editorial services runs the new division, which works with studios, directors, producers, composers, picture editors and music supervisors to construct temp tracks, cut songs, and craft the score for the final sound mix. He has over 15 years of experience in his field. More than 20 music editors and assistants have joined the new division and are currently based at the Pacific Design Center.

The creative leaders of Formosa Music Group (www.formosagroup.com) are veteran music editors Bill Abbott and Kenneth Karman. During his 30 year career, Karman has helped craft the music on more than 150 movies, including The Lone Ranger, Flight,  Rango, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Milk, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Good Will Hunting, Forrest Gump  This Is Spinal Tap, and all three Back to the Future films.  Twenty-year vet, Abbott helped craft the music on more than 75 movies, including Oz the Great and Powerful, Alice in Wonderland, Wanted, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Spiderman 2, Heat, and In the Name of the Father.

Some of Formosa Music Group’s current projects include Transformers: Age of Extinction (Paramount), Draft Day (Lionsgate), Echo (Relativity Media), Godzilla (Warner Bros.), Mad Max: Fury Road (Warner Bros.), Muppets Most Wanted (Disney), and Mr. Peabody & Sherman (DreamWorks Animation).

Formosa Group is based at The Lot, an 11-acre studio in West Hollywood .  In addition, Formosa Group has a second West Hollywood facility (“Formosa 66”) and a west side facility (“Formosa West”).
