I admit it, I am one of those people who takes the meaning of Thanksgiving for granted. At quick glance, I think Thanksgiving is about turkey, over-eating, family gatherings and a parade featuring ginormous flying cartoon characters, but the real meaning sometimes gets lost in all of that.
This year I made it a point to think about all that I have to be grateful for, and there is a lot, including, of course, my family. In addition to them, I still get giddy about having all my music on my phone and just a click away. My wrists and I are also thankful for my Wacom tablet. It’s amazing. Oh, and Colin Firth. When the Columbus, Ohio-based Gateway Film Center needed a new promo to play after all trailers and before their feature and independent films, they called on local motion design studio LeftChannel and its creative director Alberto Scirocco.
Scirocco was brought into the project early on. “We designed it to feature some of the signature architecture of Columbus, treated subtly so that the piece still had universal appeal yet had a particular interest to the local viewers who would recognize the city’s architecture,” he says.
We reached out to Leftchannel‘s Scirocco to find out how they worked with the Film Center to get the promo they had envisioned.
Columbus, Ohio — LeftChannel (http://leftchannel.com), a motion design/animation studio led by Creative Director Alberto Scirocco, has released its annual holiday video feature — it features “warm and fuzzy” 3D animation that has a classic holiday feel. The :36 piece stars a hat and scarf wearing Gryphon flying through a winter wonderland with a special tree ornament.
