Front Porch purchased by Oracle

News came today at the IBC show in Amsterdam that Oracle has signed an agreement to acquire Front Porch Digital, a provider of content storage management solutions that help companies migrate, manage and monetize large-scale media assets.

Front Porch Digital’s technologies help enterprises handle large data files content, such as high definition films and TV shows.

Front Porch Digital users include A&E Television, BBC, Discovery Communications, U.S. Library of Congress and NASCAR. In total, Front Porch Digital helps manage over 750 petabytes of digital content.

Together, their goal is to help organizations manage the growing complexities associated with the migration, integration, storage, and delivery of rich media content.

“Organizations need a modern, integrated content storage management solution to manage and monetize their valuable rich media assets,” said John Fowler, EVP of Oracle Systems. “We will continue to build on Front Porch Digital’s success and unique capabilities, which complement Oracle’s existing high performance and scalable engineered storage solutions.”

 

IBC: Blackmagic acquires eyeon, shows new products

Those of us here in Amsterdam woke up this morning to the news that Blackmagic Design acquired eyeon Software, the Toronto-based makers of high-end digital compositing, VFX and motion graphics software used in features, spots, TV and broadcast. eyeon, run and founded by longtime industry vet Steve Roberts, is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Blackmagic Design.

Fusion 7, being demonstrated at the Blackmagic stand at IBC, has been used on thousands of feature film and television projects. Most recently, Fusion 7 has been used on feature films like Maleficent, Edge of Tomorrow, Sin City: A Dame to Kill ForThe Amazing Spiderman 2, Captain America, Gravity and more.
