WHAT’S YOUR JOB TITLE?
VP Creative Services / Senior Colorist

WHAT DOES THAT ENTAIL?
My position is two-fold. On the one hand, I’m responsible for the Finishing Division of Bling Digital. That entails supervising, staffing, overall planning, coordination and direction of all finishing activities and workflows. I’m responsible for ensuring maximum operating efficiencies and product quality. I’m also the senior colorist for Bling worldwide. In that capacity, I color correct special projects. I oversee color science and general color fidelity throughout the company ensuring that our clients’ vision is maintained from camera to final color correction and delivery.

WHAT WOULD SURPRISE PEOPLE THE MOST ABOUT WHAT FALLS UNDER THAT TITLE?
The unique freedom I have to research and design workflows in order to streamline the data stream starting at the source with the camera/capture device.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB?
The opportunity to build a Finishing Division from the ground up in an industry experiencing rapid change is, for me, very rewarding. I also really enjoy sitting in the color suite creating beautifully stunning images with cool clients.

WHAT’S YOUR LEAST FAVORITE?
My least favorite part of the job is the long hours. It’s not unusual for me to work 12+ hour days and occasional weekends.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TIME OF THE DAY?
Magic hour.

IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE THIS JOB, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING INSTEAD?
I cross over into production from time to time as a producer of TV pilots and movies. Last year, I produced a movie for Amazon Studios.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PROFESSION? HOW EARLY ON DID YOU KNOW THIS WOULD BE YOUR PATH?
I started in post production when I was quite young. My first job was in the vault. I moved up quickly and found myself at a crossroads at a company called Editel/LA. My position as a floating assistant allowed me to take part in editorial, visual effects and color correction sessions. In short order I knew I wanted to be a colorist.

CAN YOU NAME SOME RECENT PROJECTS YOU HAVE WORKED ON?
I work on numerous projects, mostly TV lately. The most recent shows have been Suits, Covert Affairs and the pilot for Ironside.

NAME THREE PIECES OF TECHNOLOGY YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT.
My iPhone, laptop and shuttle drives. On a deeper level, large bandwidth Internet, multi-thread graphic cards and professionally calibrated monitors.

WHAT SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS DO YOU FOLLOW?
LinkedIn and Twitter. I also subscribe to numerous industry-specific blogs and newsletters.
