CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR COMPANY?
Charlieuniformtango is a full-service post production boutique of 39 creative people who provide editorial, motion graphics design, visual effects with online editing, full audio record/mix/sound design and post supervision.
WHAT’S YOUR JOB TITLE?
WHAT DOES THAT ENTAIL?
Being majority owner of a boutique housed in two cities, Austin and Dallas, I oversee all operations, financial decisions, human resources, marketing, and work closely with our producers on the post side.
For Liberal Media Films it is the same except with an emphasis on developing our production team of directors and producers. The goal is to be producing good conceptual work that complements my team’s talents. This goes for Charlieuniformtango as well as Liberal Media Films.
WHAT WOULD SURPRISE PEOPLE THE MOST ABOUT WHAT FALLS UNDER THAT TITLE?
That sometimes it means washing dishes. Also, worrying about your business and employees never ceases.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED OVER THE YEARS ABOUT RUNNING A BUSINESS?
You can never rest on your successes. You always need to be reinventing yourself but for the right reasons.
A LOT OF IT MUST BE ABOUT TRYING TO KEEP EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS HAPPY. HOW DO YOU BALANCE THAT?
Typically that’s not easy, but in my case that is my employees’ goal as well. I’m very fortunate to have such a conscientious group of people who work for me.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB?
Doing a great job for our clients and them recognizing it by telling their peers and bosses.
WHAT’S YOUR LEAST FAVORITE?
Letting someone go.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TIME OF THE DAY?
Morning as the day is starting and everyone is in the office.
IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE THIS JOB, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING INSTEAD?
Providing video services to a humanitarian cause in an underdeveloped country.
CAN YOU NAME SOME RECENT CLIENTS?
Fiat, Home Depot, TX Lottery, Geico, Universal Theme Parks and AT&T.
NAME THREE PIECES OF TECHNOLOGY YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT.
TV, phone and this probably doesn’t qualify but it is so much a part of me… my tennis racket.
